On Wednesday last week, Freedom MD, Chris Houghton, attended the Food is Great Campaign at Old Trafford Football ground. He was asked to be a guest presenter on the panel of experts, but enjoyed hearing from the other experts too.
“It was great to hear from all the other presenters on their experiences with exporting,” Chris reported. “There were some excellent inspiring speakers, and never a dull moment that’s for sure.
“A number of important issues raised about food and consumable exporting, but the delegates should be delighted with the vast array of valuable exporting information covered, from finding customers to getting paid! I’m sure there were some good “take-aways” for everybody.”
One of the most important facts to come out, was that many businesses fear exporting because of the huge number of regulations, issues, risks etc that consumables face when shipping.
Chris has perhaps the best advice for anyone in this position: “The answer is simple, talk to your friendly freight forwarder about it. Many of our clients ship consumables. It can present issues, but nothing insurmountable, and very rarely do we have to deal with something we haven’t dealt with before, albeit in slightly different circumstances.
“In many cases, the only thing stopping many people from exporting is the fear of exporting. But talk to us and we can smooth the way.”
