Making it Personal – What questions should your Freight Forwarder be asking you?
Is your Freight Forwarder taking your shipment personally? Or are you just another number?
There’s a ridiculous phrase that gets wheeled out all too often on poorly written TV drama – “It isn’t personal, it’s business …”
The reality is quite different. Business is personal because it involves people.
Business is Personal
We buy from those we enjoy dealing with, even if they are not the cheapest, or even the best in absolute terms. Emotions are as much part of making decisions as thoughts or facts.
If you do business with someone it’s more often than not a result of a personal relationship. And numerous studies show that we are more likely to do business with someone we know personally than not.
Steelcase CEO Jim Hackett is quoted as saying: “We’re human-centered as a culture, and therefore human-centered as a business”
Personalised Freight Forwarding
Here at Freedom, we are great believers in the personalised service.
Lots of companies talk about it and have it on their company logos, their mission statements and plastered all over the walls of their office spaces. But it’s sadly a common experience that few companies actually manage to deliver really good personal service in practice.
Working with a freight forwarder means working closely with a valued and trusted partner. If you are exporting your precious goods overseas, or importing precious goods or vital components for your business, you need someone who is going to understand your needs as well as you do.
In essence your freight forwarder should become a part of your business. And to do that they have to get to know you and your business, personally.
Making it personal isn’t just a meaningless slogan
We believe that we have to get to know our clients. It’s something we work hard at. And the best way we’ve found to do it, is to ask questions. The right questions.
A few months ago we produced a guide for our customers and clients, to help them choose the best freight forwarder for them. It’s all about what to ask.
But it’s equally true the other way. What questions is your freight forwarder asking you?
Are they asking you the right questions?
We pulled together the most important questions your freight forwarder should be asking you to help you know if they are taking your business personally.
The value from a freight forwarder comes when they are a true partner – trusted and available whenever you need assistance.
