Seafreight rate challenges

April 5th, 2012

We listen to what our customers want, and when it comes to rates they crave stability. While they have to fix prices for 12 months in advance and operate in a competitive environment where any price increase has to be carefully negotiated well in advance, it is seen not only as damaging to their profitability but also as unprofessional and non-commercial that international container shipping lines think it is acceptable that their rates for ocean freight can be increased seemingly at a whim and currently; so dramatically and so frequently. What is more as all the lines are acting in the same way at the same time (draw your own conclusions) they have little choice but to swallow hard, take the increase and brace themselves for the next one.  They are all at sea, unsure of where to set costs.

Maximise your potential in Export markets

March 29th, 2012

When you have established a market overseas, consider being able to fulfill orders locally by having your own complete logistical infrastructure to help you to make the most of the opportunities.
Starting to export you may sell to some direct customers or take on a distributor. Resistance can be met due to when you have to supply them from the UK it can be seen to protract lead times. Imagine if you could reassure customers that stock is already ‘in country’.
Freedom Logistics can provide you with an in market presence to hold local stock, receive, process and ship orders, handle Customs and other compliance issues. This can both reduce lead times and position you as a ‘local’ supplier. In the USA for example it is seen as an advantage to ‘be American’. Freedom Logistics can provide you with a tailored suite of business administration services, to meet your and just as important your customers individual needs.

On the 14th March Manchester is hosting The UK-India Business Council Summit, an event that is not to be missed for anyone with an interest or looking to do business in India

China, India, Brazil – huge markets for British exporters

December 21st, 2011

The diversity and dynamism of China, India, and Brazil defy any one-size-fits-all approach. But by targeting city clusters within them, companies can seize growth opportunities.

City clusters are made up of groups of large, nearly contiguous cities with many adjoining satellite cities and towns. Over the past two decades, such clusters have played a leading role in the economic growth of China, owing to their collective economic capacity and interdependency. At the recent China Britain Business Council event in Manchester,  it was clearly demonstrated that there are golden opportunitiues for British exporters in China’s Regional Cites and the numbers as always with China are huge with populations in the tens of millions.

Outsourcing your logistics

December 12th, 2011

You may find it makes sense to outsource logistics in many different scenarios. Growing your export sales you will benefit from outsourcing logistics to gain valuable management expertise in different country requirements, documentation, packing and shipping. Increased stock holding need not mean you have to increase your own warehouse; outsource instead. The outsourced logistics can also take care of all the scheduling  and tracking that can take up all your valuable time.

Developing an export market you can maximise your profit potential by outsourcing logistics to a third party to cover all the administrative and physical interactions negating the need for a ‘Distributor’ and keeping all the profits in-house.  http://tinyurl.com/dy8h6x3
